Qartridge technology

Qidni Labs Inc. has developed a proprietary platform technology that provides high capacity for selective absorption and removal of uremic toxins and other solutes from large volumes of whole blood.

The first application of this technology is in kidney blood dialysis. However, Qidni's platform technology can be modified for other applications for selective removal of target solutes and molecules from large volumes of whole blood and other biofluids. 

Current hemodialysis practices require usage of large quantities of highly purified water (about 120L for a 4h session of dialysis). About 300 to 500L of water is needed to produce 120L of purified water. Qartridge™ (Qidni cartridge) technology removes the need for usage of large quantities of water, along with water purification infrastructure in the dialysis industry at large.

On average, each person uses about 300 to 400L of water per day for indoor home uses. This amount of water is similar to the current volume of water that is needed to be purified to produce enough dialysate for just one session of hemodialysis. We estimate that the amount of water that can be saved per treatment by using Qidni’s technology would be equivalent to that of an average person’s daily water usage.

The cost of Qartridge™ per dialysis treatment session is similar to the cost of consumables and disposables that are used in a session of hemodialysis using current dialysis machines. We do not use expensive exotic materials in our cartridges.

A dialysis machine can be smart and advanced to replace most of the tasks which are currently performed in a dialysis clinic. It can keep the patient as safe or safer than in-centre dialysis and keep the dialysis treatment cost effective at the same time.

We are on a journey to significantly improve global accessibility to dialysis treatment. Qidni/D as our flagship product will remove the need for water purification and electricity infrastructure that is currently required for performing hemodialysis. With its small size, it also brings real portability to the dialysis market.
